Returning to Indonesia, heading to to Papua but due to over booked flights a stopover in Ambon. Well could be worse, Pulau Saparua is only a 1 hour boat ride away. Arriving just after a 1 week of really bad weather we had sun, clear waters and some rain, even the dugong showed up so the stop over here was a real deal.

Krakatau adalah kepulauan vulkanik yang masih aktif dan berada di Selat Sunda antara pulau Jawa dan Sumatra. Nama ini pernah disematkan pada satu puncak gunung berapi di sana (Gunung Krakatau) yang sirna karena letusannya sendiri pada tanggal 26-27 Agustus 1883. Letusan itu sangat dahsyat, awan panas dan tsunami yang diakibatkannya menewaskan sekitar 36.000 jiwa. Sampai sebelum tanggal 26 Desember 2004, tsunami ini adalah yang terdahsyat di kawasan Samudera Hindia. Suara letusan itu terdengar sampai di Alice Springs, Australia dan Pulau Rodrigues dekat Afrika, 4.653 kilometer. Daya ledaknya diperkirakan mencapai 30.000 kali bom atom yang diledakkan di Hiroshima dan Nagasaki di akhir Perang Dunia II.
Letusan Krakatau menyebabkan perubahan iklim global. Dunia sempat gelap selama dua setengah hari akibat debu vulkanis yang menutupi atmosfer. Matahari bersinar redup sampai setahun berikutnya. Hamburan debu tampak di langit Norwegia hingga New York.

A delegation from the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) is headed to the business community of Surabaya, Indonesia between 31 January and 1 February to promote Iskandar’s investment potential.
This follows IRDA’s active promotion of the economic region to Indonesia’s business communities in Jakarta, Bali and Makassar. Notably, IRDA Chief ExecutiveDatuk Ismail Ibrahim and Johor Chief Minister Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman will head the delegation.
The mission aims to brief Indonesian investors on areas of Iskandar where they can invest, said Syahril Syazli Ghazali, Economic Advisor at the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta.
“Among the areas with potential to attract investments from Indonesia are the creative industries, hospitality, theme parks, logistics as well as financial and health services.”
